When we focus our passions on ourselves we become the center of our own world, and we imprison ourselves in walls of self-governance, self-reliance, self-sufficiency and self-fulfillment. But, when we focus our passions on Jesus, He becomes the Center of our lives… this is when we learn to live free from limitations.

LIMITLESS WORSHIP

(Philippians 3:13b-14, NLT) I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which GOD, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

THE LIMITATION

(John 4:19-20, NLT) “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?”

Three things that limit my connection to GOD in true worship:

1. RELIGION

2. FEAR

3. MISUNDERSTANDING

• The greatest tension in my relationship with GOD:

SELF-GOVERNANCE vs TOTAL SURRENDER to Jesus

REMOVING THE BARRIERS

(John 4:21-24, NLT) Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For GOD is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

• I make New Year’s resolutions because something from my PAST is impacting my PRESENT

Who has my focus?

What determines my worship?

Am I stuck in a rut determined by my past?

• Resolutions focus strictly on BEHAVIOR

• Worship focuses everything I am on EVERYTHING HE IS

FRESH START

(John 14:6, NLT) Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

The best way to truly follow Jesus is through PASSIONATE WORSHIP

Two values that help me live a life of passionate worship:

1. PRAYER SURROUNDS ME & WORSHIP GUIDES ME

2. I WON’T FORGET

Next Step: Surrender my SELF-WORTH to HIs limitless WORTHINESS

“The woman at the well limited her ability to connect with GOD by her conditioning and opinions about Him. We can also be limited in the same way when we allow our worship to be based on our religious background, our fears or our misunderstandings.”

LIMITLESS COMMUNITY

(Philippians 3:13b-14, NLT) I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which GOD, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

REAL BIBLICAL COMMUNITYNOT JUST OUR IDEA

• Biblical community is a commonality of CALLINGPURPOSE or CAUSE

(Acts 2:42, NLT) All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the LORD’s Supper), and to prayer.

Three critical elements of true biblical community:

1. COMPLETE UNITY

2. PASSIONATE DEDICATION

3. CLEARLY DEFINED PARAMETERS

REAL COMMUNITY MANDATES GROWTH

(Acts 2:43-47, NLT) A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the LORD’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising GOD and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the LORD added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

• The catalyst for the exponential growth of the Church was their COMMUNITY

Three values mandated by true biblical community:

1. WE VALUE EVERY SOUL

2. WE HONOR UP & OUT

3. WE DIG DEEP

FRESH START

(Matthew 18:20, NLT) “Where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

Next Step: Surrender my SELF-RELIANCE to His plan for real COMMUNITY

“One of the biggest differences between the Church we see in the New Testament and the modern church can be summed up in one word: community!”

LIMITLESS PURPOSE

(Philippians 3:13b-14, NLT) I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which GOD, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

WHAT DETERMINES MY PURPOSE?

  • The purpose I find is determined by the PASSION with which I live

(Ephesians 2:1-3a, NLT) Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey GOD. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature

Three ways my life is limited by my own purpose:

  1. My own INABILITIES
  2. My own FAILURES
  3. My own OPINIONS
  • Despite my PAST Jesus still invites me into His PURPOSE

LIVING ON PURPOSE

(Ephesians 2:8-10, NLT) GOD saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from GOD. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are GOD’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

  • I was designed ON PURPOSE for HIS PURPOSE
  • I can’t be SELF-SUFFICIENT and SURRENDERED to Jesus at the same time

Two values I must develop if I’m going to live surrendered to His Purpose:

  1. WE ARE CONTRIBUTORS NOT CONSUMERS
  2. WE PRACTICE UNITY

FRESH START

(Jeremiah 29:11, NLT) “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Next Step: Surrender my SELF-SUFFICIENCY to His unlimited PURPOSE

“Jesus already knew you before He ever created you… and He sees you as His masterpiece! You matter to Jesus. You’re important to Jesus. He designed a work that only you can do. You are Limitless! All He asks is that you surrender every part of yourself to His Purpose for you.”

LIMITLESS LEGACY

(Philippians 3:13b-14, NLT) I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which GOD, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

LIMITLESS EXPRESSIONS OF LEGACY

(1 Corinthians 13:1-3, NLT) If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of GOD’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

  • The most lasting form of Limitless Legacy is expressed in LOVE
  • When I focus on fulfilling myself I limit what I CONTRIBUTE, and I limit what I RECEIVE

Three ways that love leaves a Limitless Legacy:

  1. Love FORGIVES
  2. Love SERVE
  3. Love GIVES

LIVING A LIMITLESS LEGACY

(1 Corinthians 13:8, NLT) Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! …Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Three ways I live a Limitless Legacy:

  1. FAITH
  2. HOPE
  3. LOVE

Three values that show Limitless Legacy:

  1. WE GO AFTER THE ONE
  2. WE DON’T MAINTAIN, WE MULTIPLY
  3. WE DESIRE EXCELLENCE

FRESH START

(John 13:34-35, NLT) “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

NEXT Step: Surrender my SELF-FULFILLMENT to leave a Limitless LEGACY

“When we live without passion, or when our passions are focused on ourselves, we’re living limited. When our passions are GOD-breathed, we discover that true fulfillment is realized when we’re making a real and lasting difference in someone else’s story.”
