Have you ever wondered if there’s a better way to communicate with GOD? Did you know that there’s a way to talk with GOD that will impact every part of your life?

In fact, Jesus wants our communication with Him to be more than just something we do at certain times of the day… He wants to be in constant communication with us. This is why He designed our Prayer Life.

USING YOUR INSIDE VOICE

SERMON NOTES

(Colossians 4:2,5-6, NLT) Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heartLive wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

PRIVATE PRAYER | USING YOUR INSIDE VOICE

• Prayer is a CONVERSATION with Jesus

(Luke 11:1-4, NLT) Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “LORD, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. Give us each day the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.”

The biblical pattern for personal communication with Jesus:

1. PICK A PLACE

2. FOLLOW HIS PATTERN

3. ACKNOWLEDGE WHO HE IS

4. PUT HIS AGENDA FIRST

5. ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE IS YOUR SOURCE

6. ACCESS SALVATION WITH THE SAME MEASURE I SHARE IT

7. SURRENDER MY DESIRES TO HIS PLAN FOR MY LIFE

APPLICATION

(Matthew 6:6, AMP) “When you pray, go into your most private room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.”

CORPORATE PRAYER | WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS

(Acts 4:24-31, NLT) When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to GOD: “O Sovereign LORD, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David… In fact, this has happened here in this very city!

“And now, O LORD, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of GOD with boldness.

7 Critical benefits of Corporate Prayer:

1. ESTABLISHES UNITY IN THE CONGREGATION

2. SURRENDERS CONTROL TO JESUS

3. BUILDS ON SCRIPTURE, NOT INTELLIGENCE

4. OVERCOMES THROUGH TESTIMONY, NOT DRAMA

5. ALLOWS JESUS TO HANDLE THE SITUATION

6. REFOCUSES ATTENTION ON THE MISSION

7. CONFIRMS THE ANOINTING AND FAVOR OF GOD
