Seeing is Believing

Whether we know it or not, how we see the world shapes our world itself. Our perceptions of the situations and people around us in turn define what we believe about them, how we interact with them, and how we value them. As Christ-followers, we are called to see through our faith and to allow the lens of GOD’s truth to renew our vision and perception of the world around us.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7, ESV).

Faith Changes Our Vision

Seeing through faith, if we are truly pursuing GOD, changes everything. We see the world as his divine creation, and everyone around us as His children, our brothers and sisters. We see obstacles and challenges as opportunities to grow and the necessary training and discipline we must each undergo. No longer are we only seeing ourselves or the immediate.

Faith shifts our perspectives from short-sighted physical sight to an eternal vision of GOD working in and around us for His greater purpose and kingdom come. Even when we don’t know what exactly GOD is doing in our lives, faith gives us the vision to see Him working and to have faith in his guidance and plan for us. When we see and walk through faith, we draw closer to GOD, which further changes us.

Faith Changes Our Direction

“No eyes has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what GOD has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, NLT).

When this new vision sinks in, it changes our direction. Instead of chasing after temporary pleasures or worldly definitions of success, we change courses for the eternal shores of heaven. Our decisions seem counterintuitive to the rest of the world, but we see the upside-down economy of the kingdom come – the last shall be first, to lose our lives is to gain them, and so forth. Our direction takes us further from our own self-serving nature to an others-centered way of living.

We’re led to increasing generosity, for we have faith that GOD will sustain us. We’re directed to unconditional love of others, for He loves us immensely more than we can conceive. We worry less, because we know the direction of our lives is directed by the Omnipotent Creator and our Glorious King.

Faith Changes Our Character

As our directions changes, this shift changes our character. The longer we spend on the path of Jesus, the more we reflect his character to those around us. The more time we spend in the presence of GOD, the more His truth seeps into our souls. Our direction towards the sacred calling on our lives dramatically shifts who we are, so that the way we are wired becomes how we interact with GOD and how we bless others, through our faith.

As we move closer and closer to Christ, we become more like Him. As we let the Spirit dwelling inside us lead our words and deeds, we embody the Spirit all the more. As we follow GOD’s direction, our character follows. We become what we seek.

As we begin to see through our faith, GOD shifts our vision, which will drastically alter the direction of our lives, which in turn shapes our character. May we see and walk by faith, not by sight, and begin to live our the glorious promises that GOD has for us.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1422323455062{background-color: #f7f7f7 !important;}”][vc_column_text]
